GDR – IMAGES OF CONTEMPORARY HISTORY

The data base now also includes photos from the GDR picture archive. It covers the times of the GDR as a state, but also documents the exciting transition period around the time of reunification, as well as the associated phenomena in respect to great social and economic changes up to 1993.

The pictures were originally made for the party organ "Neues Deutschland" ("New Germany"). They may be used for editorial purposes and commercial products. Use for advertising purposes, also of political nature, must first be clarified with the culture-images picture editor.
